Outdoor activity for all

Mojo Active is one of Bristol’s best-equipped outdoor activity centres, located in 80 acres of private fields and woodland in Almondsbury. It has evolved considerably since its launch in 2012 and is recognised for its leadership in corporate and educational events, in addition to its thriving party and high ropes centre. Recently Mojo Active was shortlisted in the Bristol Life awards for the Leisure and Tourism category, and at the end of 2018 won “Favourite Activity Club” in the Bristol Raring 2 Go Awards.

Mojo's Founders

Mojo Active was founded by Jo McConnell and Mark Johnson in 2012. Following a career in media, Jo was looking for a business partner to fulfill a dream to set up a boot camp company, built on her passion for health, fitness and love of outdoor life. Mark, after a successful career in the Royal Air Force, was looking for a new challenge where he could use his physical training experience to work with civilians.

“We realised straight away that we had complementary areas of expertise, along with a shared love of the outdoors,” says Mark. “The passion was there, we just needed to work out the logistics; in particular a 400 m top specification military-style assault course!”

Sadly Jo McConnell passed away in June 2019 after fighting cancer for over 10 years. She was a hugely positive and inspirational person who lived her life to the max. You can read more about her legacy here

The founding ethos of Mojo Active remains the same today, it’s about getting people outside and active.

Safe Guarding & Safety Information

Mojo Active prides itself on it’s impressive safety record as a result of the stringent safety standards in place. All Mojo instructors are DBS checked and there is always a qualified first-aider on site supervising the activities. Operations Director, Mark Johnson, oversees all staff training. All staff complete a thorough training induction programme, covering all aspects of the activities, safety and child safeguarding procedures. There are comprehensive risk assessments for all activities and robust operating procedures in place to ensure sessions run smoothly and safely.
