Following feedback from our holiday clubs, there is a demand for some interesting activities for older children who would no longer need holiday club care but would still enjoy outdoor activities with their peers. Mojo Active is keen to offer ad hoc courses and activities tailored for older children within the school holidays to keep them active and also help them to learn new skills, and where relevant, gain qualifications. We hope to offer a variety of courses but will need sufficient numbers to run them.
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY CLUB: 17 - 30 December 2020. Spaces limited to ensure social distancing. Find out more about our Covid-19 procedures here
This is a full-on active day for older children (aged 11 years+) combining all the best Mojo activities. Taking on zorbs, archery tag, axe throwing, air rifles and high ropes - the kids will be truly exhilarated and exhausted by the end of the day!
An epic fun team game in which you’ll need a combination of brain and muscle power to take on our “I’m a Celebrity” style adventure challenge. Against the clock, you must work in two teams to uncover the codes, find the keys and complete the tasks to unlock different elements and finish the course. This is a fantastic activity for older children who like working in teams, doing activities and solving problems.
Although this may sound somewhat alarming, all relevant safety precautions will be taken to ensure your children can have a go at something alternative! They will be taught how to safely throw an axe, when instructed to do so, at a wooden target and also how to fire an air rifle safely in accordance with the guidelines of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). The qualified instructor will teach the children about gun law and how to behave responsibly and appropriately around guns.
Previous attendees have found this introduction to scuba diving really interesting and as a springboard to further diving qualifications. We have teamed up with Hidden Depths Dive school to bring your children a fantastic opportunity to develop new scuba diving skills in a swimming pool and gain a Seal certification from PADI. This 3 day Seal Team course is specifically aimed at younger divers taking their first dive course, and includes basic scuba skills as well as some dive theory in the form of a manual and DVD combo.
The Seal Team course is also a recognised certification, meaning all successful participants will receive a certification card from PADI, showing they’ve reached that level. It also opens up future dive opportunities, and counts towards an Open Water Diver certification should they choose to progress into more scuba as they grow older. There will be some time spent at Mojo prior to leaving for the Thornbury Leisure Centre pool so children should dress for outdoor activities in addition to bringing swimwear.
A fun, physical team session around the Mojo orienteering course with team challenges at each orienteering post. This involves a log carry, tug of war, lots of teamwork, strength, determination and problem solving. If your children love a challenge, then they’ll love tough runner! For children aged 11 years plus.
This is a hugely popular day out for the adrenaline seekers out there! Children will enjoy rafting and paddle boarding through gullies, exploring caves, leaping off rocks/cliffs, swimming in the sea and discovering hidden coves. There are only 15 places available so we advise booking early to avoid disappointment. The day runs from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm and wetsuits, helmets & flotation vests will be provided. Children must be confident swimmers and be able to swim 25m unaided.
“My normally sofa-sitting teenage son really enjoyed the Mojo kayak course - it's so great to have a holiday option for older kids which isn't deemed "uncool"! Thanks so much Mojo”
