The children enjoyed learning key survival skills that would get the nod from Bear Grylls himself! They learned how to build the ideal shelter using only what they found within our woodland area. These shelters were then assessed for durability and permeability with interesting results! They tried out the different ways of making a fire safely. There was a demonstration on how to gut a fish followed by concealment games with our ghillie suits. We also discussed the 5 Ss which are important in concealment training: shape, shine, shadow, silhouette and sound. The survival session runs in conjunction with our other Mojo activities including the assault course, zorb football and the Mojo Adventure Challenge, usually over a period of 6 weeks, this can also be ran as an one-off activity.

“We started working with Mojo Active this academic year (2016) and it could not have been easier. Their organisation has taken almost all of the hassle of running an off site activity away and they have been extremely flexible in meeting the needs of our pupils We have sent groups ranging from Yr7 through to Yr11 and all of our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the experiences on offer. The staff are always full of energy and get the pupils going as soon as you arrive on site, I would 100% recommend giving it a go, get outside and have some fun!”
